Lisa is a Rapid Review Senior Research Fellow working with ActEarly and the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (CBMDC) Public Health Team. Her work aims to support evaluation in local government decision making. Lisa particularly focuses on supporting ‘real-time’ research or evaluation of CBMDC projects, linking to ActEarly work, which aim to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people. Prior to joining ActEarly, Lisa recently completed her PhD at the University of Sheffield where she undertook a multi-scale analysis of sarcopenic obesity (low muscle strength in people with obesity) in older adults. The overall aim of Lisa’s thesis was to identify potential new treatment options for people with sarcopenic obesity, and in doing so to reduce the risk of adverse clinical outcomes (e.g. falls and fractures). Prior to this, Lisa worked as a Dietitian in the NHS. Her wider clinical and research interests include obesity, dietary health and the wider determinants of health and wellbeing.
